my UTAU just crashed (???)

hello again! so, i got a pc to install the UTAU program. i followed a random tutorial on the internet and, well, apparently it was fine. but, the characters were all messed up, just random simbols, and it wasn't even recognizing the voicebank that's supposed to come with the program. even the hiragana characters i wrote down came up as "?". I closed and opened the app again and then even the words in english were all messed up with random simbols. it obviously didn't recognize the voicebank I recorded either. does someone know what should I do? I am really excited to try and make a voicebank of my own.

oh... no, I havent. didn't knew I had to. isn't going to mess up my computer, is it? cus isn't actually mine, is my father's...

It shouldn't, the most I've had to deal with is some programs' installation wizards setting their language to Japanese despite the system language being English.
All the same, though, if it's not your computer, you should probably ask if it's OK.

If you don't want to/can't do that, you can try OpenUTAU. Some voicebanks may still have issues due to the locale mismatch, but the program itself works fine on non-Japanese computers.
