Because people complained abut the whitewashing over ruby's design (considering Misha and syo wanted a Latina design)... And problem is, there was another misunderstanding as they thught it was Syo who directly said it was whitewashing while he said nothing about this ,but rather about how he didn't have access to infos

He didn't apologize because he did nothing wrong. I hope Bil reads his email very carefully and comes to an agreement with Syo, because the only person related to the project who did anything wrong was Anders. From what I heard through the VO grapevine it's far from the first time Anders has been a dick about things. I wish he'd just leave or get fired I'd kill for his job

Ya rly. While I'm over it for the most part, I'm still a little disappointed at Bil's reaction. I'm sure it's terrible to be publicly accused of racism when it's all just a misunderstanding, but then punishing the developer when he was lied to by Anders and didn't start the fandom riot? Come on. Also the 24 hours thing bugs me a bit even if there is a short deadline to submit the dev team's design, especially since he didn't seem to care whether Syo got the message or not. Though I guess it's not entirely incomprehensible since they paid money for the AX design only to find out there was a design that the artist volunteered to give free of charge which everyone loved while bashing on the commissioned design heh;

iirc; I sent him a large apology and explained thoroughly that Syo didn't support, encourage or had anything to do with the accusations and it was myself and other parts of the fandom that committed this.He did respond to me actually showing me all the email responses he'd gotten of people bashing and attacking him accusing him of whitewash(Not saying who but he did copy/paste each piece from emails to me) and I don't really blame him.From his point of view he had no idea what was going on then gets emails of people slandering his name, which confuses him since he didn't know about the design because Anders never actually sent him it or explained the situation to him.Also I'm not going to lie, some of you guys, I may not know who but it was either here, twitter or some part of this movement, were pretty rude with what I saw, it wasn't pretty.I feel extremely sorry for the illustrator that did the design PFX showed off because Bil told me she herself was super excited for the reveal and she's PoC herself. Its not her fault this happened, she didn't know and now we've inadvertedly hurt someone else in the process (While good intentions obviously but I don't think many of us took into consideration the feelings or stepped back to realize there was a human with emotions that created something they were excited to share with the vocaloid community.)I still think its ugly and doesn't look good of course but we don't really need to bash it the way we did now that we know the full reason this even happened was miscommunication because of the middleman.

Yeah honestly, the way some sent very rude mails, I was quite horrified and when it strted, I really had a very bad feeling about how things would turn out =/ And same, I feel bad ffor the artist (honestly i wouldn't label it "ugly" but yeah, I think it'd be interesting to keep this illustration for a brand new bank justly featuring vocals fitting more to EDM or rock music).... Anyway, I would have neever imagined it'd be such a mess

^Same. The rude nature of the situation on some people's part is mostly uncalled for. I certainly think that the art would be good for a nice Pop/Rock/EDM centered Vocaloid, just not Ruby. And on the note of Bill's Email, even Syo is a tad disappointed; seeing how his email was very thought out, to the point, and unlike most emails sent to PFX, respectful.

I was empathetic with Bil but my empathy's worn down bit by bit with each response getting more and more unprofessional culminating in "Peace." He didn't even bother to consider the evidence that Anders is responsible for not giving Bil the design as far as we know.

I hope more than anything Misha's involvement can help make this better since I know Syo can't fight any more battles. She seems pretty confident that there isn't a loophole that would let them distribute Ruby without her permission and she comes off like she's well enough to fight it without sacrificing her health. Unless they wrote it in invisible ink on the NDA and/or there's more to it than we know, the most contract she's bound to is a verbal agreement, and from my understanding it's not easy to pin someone down with one unless there's near irrefutable proof.

I'm trying to be optimistic because maybe, if worst comes to worst, she can convince another company that Ruby is a safe bet financially by showing off the Save Ruby campaign as proof fans are loyal enough to buy her from them as long as they use the original design. It'd be a sweet deal IMO, since they could get royalties without having to deal with half as many headaches as PFX :'D

Misha is currently discussing about the use of Ruby design over PFX' and for the moment, they would be willing to use it, but nothing's sure yet

That was the major risk following the whole drama that has happened..... And this is one of the reasons that give me a very bad feeling for the future of Vocaloids.....


Edit : Misha has been discussing, and sorrowfuly it'll be likely the EDM/punk-rockesque-Ruby that will be used

misha has said on her twitter that they can't release without her permission, so the old design definitely has a decent chance.
