I mean tuning is something really personal and that you can't really explain how to do it in one reply lol, but before actually tuning Teto's CVVC english, you should worry about being really careful with which phonemes are being utilized: Teto english has a bunch of recording and oto quirks that you will learn how to neutralize as you gain experience with UTAU/openutau (which one of these are you using?). Teto english is not an easy voicebank to work with and it's definetly not beginner friendly. As somebody who uses Teto CVVC english alot, you should start out working either with other english voicebanks or Teto's japanese library before going to her CVVC english

I really needed to read this too. I tried getting the tuning on the english voicebank to sound right myself but have been struggling. I may just switch to Japanese. I'm still not very fluent in Japanese yet though so I was kind of hesitant to do that lol

you can always make the japanese voicebank sing english lyrics :D There are a bunch of tutorials on youtube on how to make that, and if you use openutau, there's a phonemizer called eng to jp that is exacly for that!! (It will have a japanese accent tho lol). You can also just cover japanese songs: I don't know anything about japanese so I just grab the romanji lyrics and work with that

I don't work alot with english voicebanks, but this thread has a bunch of recommendations! Give them a try!! https://utaforum.net/threads/openutau-english-vb-reccomendations.25231/
Also if you are an absolute beginner, you should probably start out using CV japanese voicebanks, since they have the most simple reclist you will find on UTAU voicebanks, and then move to english, since these voicebanks use way more complicated reclists
Also there aren't really tutorials explaining on how to work with Teto english, since it's not a really popular voicebank to work it, but it isn't something that hard to work with when you understand how the x-sampa reclist works. But to do so, you need experience.

Is the recommendation for cv voicebanks really necessary here? They said they use openutau, so using any voicebank isn't any harder than using another. Plus, the reclist doesn't really matter here either, since they're likely using phonemizers to enter the phonemes for them

Look, the only thing different if you're using teto over other English voicebanks is that she has a thick accent and uses x-sampa phonemes, which shouldn't be a big deal since you're using openutau. She is used like pretty much any other voicebank in openutau, and there are none that are easier or harder to use. You should probably get a better sounding voicebank, but you likely really like teto.
The only thing that I would recommend to flat out make her sound better is to get a different resampler than the one openutau comes with, such as moresampler, f2resamp or tips.

Also, if you do plan to use a different utau voicebank, then you should look for either a vccv English or arpasing voicebank. But again, if you're just using utau because you like Teto and Ruko and such, Teto isn't any harder to use than any others, she just sounds kinda bad
Using a jp voicebank singing using the jp to eng phonemizer might sound better, but keep in mind that those aren't meant for English

I'm sorry but these ARE a big deal no matter if you use utau or openutau. Also, Teto's eng CVVC's problem isn't just the accent, it's that the voicebank has lots of recording quirks that you need to understand how reclists work to be able to work with. Also, lots of UTAU voicebanks' reclists aren't an exact match to openutau's phonemizers, so even if you use openutau instead of standart utau you should still learn how reclists work. And yes there are easier and harder voicebanks to work with, no matter if you use utau or openutau, since you may need a specific resampler with a custom string of tags to get the voicebank to sound its best or, again, the voicebank's reclist might not be a perfect match with openutau's reclist so you still have to input some phonemes as your own.
This is why no matter if you're using utau or openutau you should still start out using CV voicebanks so you start understanding how reclists work. A more simpler voicebank will also give more space for a begginer to learn how to use different resamplers and the basic of tuning, since the beginner producer using it will not be as worried abt making the voicebank sound clear as they would be if working with a more complex voicebank. That's why I made that recommendation.
