Recommended pitches to record?

It depends on your vocal range. If you're just doing one pitch, choose a middling pitch that you're comfortable with. If you decide to add more pitches, you might start out by choosing a range of equally spaced pitches, and then adjusting them around a bit to fit the natural changes in the tone of your voice.
If you're crossvoicing, record as low as you comfortably can. Don't strain yourself.

It depends what the highest and lowest you can record are. If you’re going for deep, I’d recommend at least going lower than C4
