How old were you when you found UTAU and Vocaloid?

Seems like this is a continuous forum over the years, so I guess I can reply.

I heard Mind Brand on Scratch when I was 9 or so, probably a while after Coin Locker Baby came out. I was big fan of MARETU for a little bit, and Darling was my top song on Spotify for two or so years. I tried to make an UTAU voicebank back in 2021-2022 but it didn’t turn out well.
Mid-2023 I listened to Spotify’s Hatsune Miku playlist to overcome my hatred of her and wound up getting obsessed again.

*takes a long drag*
I was 12 years old when I first heard of Hatsune Miku
in 2009
I was 13 years old when I got into UTAU
in 2010
I tried making my first UTAU (Which is Alex!) in 2010

I had some great friends in the early years of the overseas community. Was never one of the popular UTAUs, but I was also just doing my thing in the corner.
I slowly got out of using UTAU in 2015-2016 when I started college, but vocaloid never really left me.
And then I broke my laptop that had a lot of my UTAU stuff on there
lost my 4shared account that housed the dl links to my voicebanks. Cried a little on the inside when I tried getting back into using UTAU in like 2019-2020.
And then eventually came full circle here in 2025

I'm so happy that there are people who take voicebank commissions these days, because I remembered in 2019 asking one of my old friends if anyone did otoing commissions because did NAUT have the time to do all that. (Still don't)

I got into vocaloid in I wanna say 2018-2020? I was about 10-12. I first got into it after watching a comedy animation on YouTube that referenced Aku no Musume and quickly fell in love after listening to the og song. I later got a copy of SynthV R1 and Eleanor Forte, later pirated a copy of V5, and then eventually got into UTAU usage, which is my preferred method of vocal synthesis even after getting legal versions of SynthV Studio and Vocaloid. I then tried to learn to make good covers by practicing mixing on audacity and then FL Studio.
I got into Mine Laru in I wanna say 2021. I was still in the days of not using UTAU because I thought it sucked, so I just joked about how hot I found him hot. After I got into UTAU, I was looking for a soft male vocal for a cover request and realized how bad Ruko's male soft voicebank was, and so decided to try and see if there were any other soft males on my laptop. I tried Laru's float voicebank and never looked back.

You pirated V5? Out of ALL the Vocaloids?

I started listening to vocal synth music when I was 10, around the same time I started making instrumental originals. I started making vocal synthesizer music when I was 12 & 1/2, starting with Synthesizer V Studio lite.
