What voicebank should I record next?

I have already done a japanese CV and I was thinking of starting a VCV in the summer (because school). Other than that, what do you think I should do next? I could do a pouty sorta sounding one, a french or a soft-ish sounding one.

Ideally, the next step you take after CV is CVVC. Although VCV was the next method discovered, CVVC is a lot better in terms of learning, since it's the method used for pretty much every other language. VCV is huge and impractical for anything other than Japanese. CVVC is less recording, less OTOing, and if you're able to use presamp, no UST editing.

Kevin (of FRAloids) has been working on his CVVC+ reclist for french. I'm not sure when that'll be released, but it's a good option to wait for. At the moment, you could also extract the current CVVC reclist from an already released voicebank.

Adlez is right, CVVC is WAY easier to record. It'll give you a step up to VCV as some lists do contain vowel strings such as ZURUI's and Giraffey's

Zurui: http://utaforum.net/threads/zuruis-cvvcv-reclist.8714/

Giraffey's: http://giraffeykun.deviantart.com/journal/UTAU-giraffelist-CVVC-Starter-Pack-437478291

Ritsu eve's list: http://www.canon-voice.com/cvvc.html (no vowel strings )

Adlez also has a CVVC multilingual list http://utaforum.net/resources/lexys.112/

Both Giraffey's and ZURUI's list will help you with VCV, and have a base oto (Ritsu's has a base oto as well as Aldez's)

As for appends? Maybe a sweet or whispery bank.
