(i know i'm not paintedcz sorry)

From one of the videos she posted on her channel, I think it won't be compatible with current USTs but it does use a very similar aliasing method, so it shouldn't be too hard to convert them.

It will not be compatible. You could theoretically use this reclist as if it were the old reclist, but you'd be missing out of a lot of fancy new features you could be working with. O: So I recommend learning how to convert the UST to VCCV.

I hope you don't mind me asking-
Usage-wise it looks a lot like there is a tiny bit of VCV and what appears to be like a reverse VCV- (like on those rhotic vowel blend...which was fantastic, btw)

Does this mean that it's as simple as taking previous CVVC usage experience and throwing in some VCV?
Because I have mixed the two before for a fake-english and the concept is really great (just that no one has taken it as far as you have to create a well structured list and such)
Also, if I may ask this too, does this directly reflect recording and configuration?

I just noticed that the VC samples kinda "eat" the whole CV sample when it crossfades...and it looks like the STP corrects for shorter notes?

Sorry if I'm asking some really oddball questions! I'm just really excited and ready to dive on it once it's public!
It sounds like it could be a really simple in concept if someone already understands CVVC english and VCV.

So, how do you convert usts to VCCV? I know what VCV usts look like...but I've never seen a CVVC one before. Are they similar?

VCCV isn't released yet, but presumably will be converted via the autocvvc plugin once the dictionary is made for it.

As for what CVVC looks like...
CV: [a] [ri] [ga] [to]...[a] [ra] [vu] [yu]

CV+VV: [a] [ri] [ga] [to]...[a] [a i] [ra] [vu] [yu]

CVVC: [- a] [a r] [ri] [i g] [ga] [a t] [to]...[- a] [a i] [ra] [vu] [yu]

VCV: [- a] [a ri] [i ga] [a to]...[- a] [a i] [- ra] [a vu] [u yu]

Oh! So there'll be a plugin we can install to utau, then? Awesome!

I'll have to ask you later in more detail how CV and CVVC work. I'm mainly only familiar with VCV. I find that the easiest to record for me.

Oo... I did not notice that this thread had so much activity on it. ^^;;

Nope! Recording is similar to VCV, but in a very Englishy sort of way??? I've taken the idea of ending consonants to a whole new level. USTing is similar to CVVC, but there's a whole lot more going on than there used to be.
I just noticed that the VC samples kinda "eat" the whole CV sample when it crossfades...and it looks like the STP corrects for shorter notes?
Yes! This is very intentional. I spent a long time trying to come up with way to make the oto the same for each different kind of sample so that there wouldn't ever be any problems within the envelope. And I found it!
The accent on the vowel seems to be much more dependent on how it ends, rather than how it starts, so the vowels in VCCV English are going to be sounded by the VC sample as much as UTAU lets that be possible.
Also, if I may ask this too, does this directly reflect recording and configuration?
Yeees? The recordings, the configurations, and the usting is all done in a very particular way. O:
Sorry if I'm asking some really oddball questions! I'm just really excited and ready to dive on it once it's public!

It's no problem! ^__^ I want to be able to explain it better, but it's really kind of a packaged deal where I can't really think of another way to explain it, but to show how to do it all step by step... so I'm mostly just keeping it secret for now in order not to confuse people more. D;
I think it's a pretty simple concept, but it sure took a hell of a complicated route in order for me to find it. LOL
So, how do you convert usts to VCCV? I know what VCV usts look like...but I've never seen a CVVC one before. Are they similar?
Yes, and no. You start with the CVs and work your way backwards from there. O: You don't have to guess note lengths, or where anything needs to go. And I have a pretty simple method for doing it.
VCCV isn't released yet, but presumably will be converted via the autocvvc plugin once the dictionary is made for it.
A plugin would be kinda cool to make! But I feel like the dictionary would be tough. Other than that, I don't recommend trying to use a presamp for this. I think it would sort of ruin a big part of the concept... O:

OH AND... I also forgot to post this here. New test sample.

As it turns out, I think plug and playing USTS with this method will work much better than before. That is.. if we can somehow form a consensus on what to do about all of our different accents. At the very least, I think editing USTs for English banks will be much easier now.

This also comes with a bit of a rambling essay, which you can read here, if you like reading weird rambley personal things. o_o;; http://paintedcz.tumblr.com/post/123667495835/cz-accidentally-writes-a-passionate-essay-about

Well, the lack of a plugin is fine for me. I actually kinda like manually editing English USTs. Would it be rather simple to edit it via a CVVC english ust (like using a CVVC english ust as a base and converting it to VCCV.)

For me at least, it's easiest to build these USTs from a midi, or something with only simple CV notes. To edit from a CVVC ust, I would recommend deleting all the VCs, and starting over with their placement. The VCs have had the biggest change in how they work when comparing to CVVC.
